An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is defined as a smaller, secondary dwelling unit on the same lot as a primary dwelling unit. An ADU is an independent dwelling unit that provides the basic requirements of shelter, heating, cooking, and sanitation. That includes a detached unit (converted garage, backyard cottage, pole barn or any newly constructed structure). These units are also commonly called accessory apartments, mother-in-law suites, or granny flats.
An ADU is NOT a permitted use, accessory use, or conditional use in any Greenfield Township zoning district. Under the Zoning Code, only uses specifically designated as permitted are allowed as of now; a use that is not listed is prohibited unless the code is formally amended. Adding a second independent dwelling unit on a single-family lot would also create a two-family use, which is not authorized in the districts where most township’s homes are located. A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE PROPOSED GRID GROWTH 765-KILOVOLT TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT WITHIN GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP AND FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OHIO; DIRECTING THAT THIS RESOLUTION BE TRANSMITTED TO PROJECT DEVELOPERS, THE OHIO POWER SITING BOARD, AND ELECTED OFFICIALS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Greenfield Township is seeking a versatile and highly organized Township Administrator to support the Board of Trustees in a flexible hybrid role (averaging approximately 29 hours per week, with daytime, evening, and occasional weekend hours as needed). Candidates are not required to be a resident of Greenfield Township. This key position oversees day-to-day administrative operations for the Roads, Fire, and Zoning departments; manages human resources and recruitment (including job descriptions, hiring processes, personnel files, and insurance coordination); serves as Public Records Custodian and Legal Liaison; coordinates community communications, safety alerts, and social media outreach; and acts as Training Coordinator and Health Department liaison. The ideal candidate will be a proactive multi-tasker with strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills who thrives in a collaborative local-government environment and can effectively support trustees, department heads, and residents.
